Parker Hyra led the team cheer to start the game, Jett Lajoie opened the scoring at the 9 minute mark of the first period and goaltender Mason Buors had a HUGE game to set the tone for this gold medal matchup with the 2006 Parkland Prospects.
This 2007 Manitoba Mustangs group had a blast, while outplaying a team who were a year older and had a considerable size advantage. This hard working group showed tremendous tenacity and refused to back down at any point in this game. The end result was a 4-3 victory with a thrilling defensive effort in the final 3 minutes of the game.
The team went throught the round robin with a W1-L2 record, losing only to the teams with an age advantage, and won the semi final game on Sunday against their rivals the 2007 Manitoba Hawks.
Congats to the players, coaches and parents on a win that is guaranteed to turn some heads in the spring hockey community.

Congrats to the 2007 Manitoba Mustangs who, after going UNDEFEATED in the round robin and semi final portions of the tournament, captured the silver medals in a come from behind, Mothers Day, finals overtime game!
After being down by 4 goals and battling through several penalty kills, the Mustangs rallied with 5 unanswered goals in the second and third periods and were able to take the lead for some time late in the third. Final score in the overtime loss was 6-5, but the Mustangs showed tremendous character and skills, proving to all that they are a top team in AAA hockey. Great Game Players!
Next Tournament for this team is the Mustangs Challenge Tournament, scheduled for May 16-19, 2014. The 2007 Mustangs will be facing some formitable oppostion as the pool has both 2006 and 2007 born teams. Should be some more great hockey!
